IMPORTANT NOTES:-
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

General

  1. The Law does not allow you to ride a powered two-wheel vehicle on the road as a learner without a valid CBT Certificate, other than as part of the on-road element of a CBT Course.
  2. Arrival on time is essential so that your course can start promptly. We may be unable to conduct the course for candidates arriving unduly late.
  3. Candidates using their own bike must ensure that they have current insurance cover, MOT
(if applicable), Road Fund licence (Tax Disc) and that the vehicle is fit for use on the road, or we will be unable to conduct their course. Some imported mopeds and motorcycles are fitted with speedometers marked only with kph. These although meeting EU Type Approval do not meet UK Regulations. The DSA have insisted that we do not carry out training on these vehicles.
  4. You must bring your current UK driving licence showing valid entitlement. (Category A for a Motorcycle and Category P for a moped). Please bring the paper counterpart to a photo-card licence. A full car licence acts as a provisional licence for a motorcycle, but you MUST carefully check that motorcycle entitlement is in date if you have a provisional licence. You need to be able to meet the eyesight requirements for riding on the road, (standard car Number Plate at 20.5 metres-67 feet) and have an understanding of the Highway Code.
  5. Where we are unable to conduct a course due to any of the above, non attendance, or indeed any reason caused by yourself, then deposits will be forfeit and balances will still be payable.
  6. Our machines are supplied topped up with fuel and, as with any hire vehicle, you are expected to pay for its replacement as you use it.
  7. You should allow a full day for each training day and we suggest that you bring something to eat and drink.
  8. Compulsory Basic Training will generally be completed on the first day of a training course for those who have not already got a valid CBT Certificate. This cannot, however, be guaranteed, as in common with all our training we will not, under any circumstances, compromise safety.
  9. All customers enrolling on a DAS course will be expected to demonstrate competent machine control on a 125 before being allowed to ride the larger bike.
  10. All practical driving test candidates are required to produce a valid CBT Certificate, Theory Pass Certificate & Photographic proof of identity (both parts of a Photo Licence or a valid Passport, if you have an old style paper licence) when attending their test. If you do not have a Motorcycle Theory Pass Certificate please ring us immediately. In addition to the above a Module 1 pass certificate must be produced when attending for Module 2. A Theory Pass Certificate is NOT required for candidates only doing CBT.
  11. If you have recently taken a Theory Test and loaned a learning CD, Video or book from us and have not already posted it back to us, would you kindly return it on your first day of training.

Special Needs
It is very important that you discuss with us, any special needs you have prior to starting your course. We can then ensure that whatever necessary arrangements are needed are put in place. These needs may be medical, physical or learning needs.

Clothing
You are advised to wear warm, comfortable clothing, suitable for the weather. Gloves and stout footwear are important. An instructor may refuse to commence a course where he/she considers the Candidate is inappropriately dressed for motorcycle riding. Safety helmets are a very personal item of clothing and need to be a correct fit. We would strongly recommend that anyone contemplating riding on two wheels purchase their own helmet from a reputable supplier. Loan helmets are available but we cannot possibly stock sufficient helmets to guarantee a perfect fit on everyone's head.

Insurance
Where we have agreed to provide a motorcycle we include fully comprehensive insurance cover. You, or your parent or guardian, if you are under 18, will need to sign an Insurance disclaimer acknowledging that you, as the rider, accept responsibility for the insurance excess. This excess is normally limited to £200.00, for any damage caused to the vehicle whilst in your care, or damage to any third party property, as a result of an accident. The excess will be refunded if, as a result of an insurance claim investigation, you are held to be blameless for the incident.

Personal Accident Risk
MOTAG recommends personal accident and injury insurance for at least the duration of the training course and can accept no liability for personal injury due to your loss of machine control whilst riding.

We have found that CICA can provide Personal Accident cover at very competitive rates, their local representative can be located by contacting their head office on 0800 169 7733.

After Your Practical Test
If you pass your test on a 125cc motorcycle you will have gained a Category A2 Licence. Note that for two years from the date of the new licence you will only be able to ride a motorcycle that produces less than 33bhp (25Kw) power output.

And Finally!
The MOTAG Training Team hopes that you will really enjoy your course, and be successful at the first attempt. Your comments whether good or otherwise, are always valued, so please spend a few minutes completing the enclosed Evaluation Form.
